WmCovell 4:37 - I wasn't that far from you then i was the other side of the Kings Arms on top of a hay stack next to the runway!
I must say that was ridiculous, so glad it was in KENT, amazing spectacle to see them all flying and doing sorties around the airfield.
Think that's one of the best things i've ever experienced.

Willie McKnight who flew under Bader was a local boy and fellow alumnus at the U of A. One of my heroes as a kid.
10 kills in the Battle of France 6 more in the Battle of Britain
One more just before he died in a raid across the Channel in November of that year.
Wish I could have gone down.

I don't see any problem at all with people from Kent receiving parking tickets.
Should have towed all of the vehicles away.

It was really packed surprisingly so the road outside from joan Allen's metal detecting shop right up past the King's arms at leaves green with thousands of people both sides of the road. The traffic wardens were out in force and although I could see no yellow lines every car for a few miles had tickets all except the f __keys parked blocking the road.

The Red Arrows flew overhead while I was at Clackett Lane services on Saturday.
Do love a mix of the old and new guard though and the power of the modern fighter jets is ridiculous.
Visited Bovington tank museum last week as well, which is also well worth a visit if you've time left over after visiting Monkey World next door!!

I saw a Spitfire and a Vulcan over the Isle of Wight at the weekend. The Vulcan was just cruising so wasn't as loud as I would expect.

Seems like Johnson took no shit....
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnnie_Johnson_(RAF_officer)
Johnson was credited with 34 individual victories over enemy aircraft, as well as seven shared victories, three shared probables, 10 damaged, three shared damaged and one destroyed on the ground.] Johnson flew 700 operational sorties and engaged enemy aircraft on 57 occasions. Included in his list of individual victories were 14 Messerschmitt Bf 109s and 20 Focke-Wulf Fw 190s destroyed making him the most successful RAF ace against the Fw 190. This score made him the highest scoring Western Allied fighter ace against the German Luftwaffe

WmCovell 8:09 - Tickets were £40 to get in at 09.30 walk around the planes, etc then you can meet the pilots after but theres no entry now. I want to try get decent photos so didn't get a ticket, am going to try get a good spot although that depends on which way they take off?
